My Gratitude...
We grow more and more in gratitude and thankfulness... That gratitude becomes us.
I’m grateful for everybody and everything. I’m thankful for all the things I have as well as
all of the things I don’t have... I’m grateful for the beautiful, positive amazing things, just as I am the disappointments. As I continue to feel gratitude I create more gratitude. It sinks deeply within me... Feeling grateful for everything.
The more grateful I am, the less complaining I experience within me and in my conversations. Once this process of building gratitude which is (I’m sure a lifelong process) takes hold and thrives... Misery begins to disappear. Gratitude exists without complaints. Misery exists with complaints. Misery is impossible with gratefulness... Just another reason to be grateful for gratitude. And as I choose gratitude I realize once again that suffering is a choice. Choose to think how you want to feel. Think and feel gratitude.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for a while. Leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same. This page is dedicated to all who have touched my life in meaningful ways. To those who allowed me to spread my wings. To those who have given me joy, love, and unconditional support. To those who are the change they wish to see in the world. The beloved ones. -Elinore Cohen ‘09
Teachers, Mentors, Family, and Friends...
From my first class my life changed in more ways than one. I met my best friend Annette Pizzo, who was my first yoga teacher. She led me on the path to yoga and also led me to all of my other teachers. To be specific my mentor teachers include the incredibly gifted Annie Carpenter who inspires me with every word she says and every sequence she teaches effortlessly from her brilliant mind. I’m blessed to have not only my Pre & Post-Natal mentor teacher be Heather Seiniger, but to have her as a friend. She exudes “mother” in her teachings, and taught me to cultivate that in my teaching. I’m Grateful to have been taught and insipred by Jasmine Lieb, with her infinite intuition and loving compassion she taught me much more than asana. She taught me how to intuitively understand the individual, and meet their unique body’s needs. I’m so thankful to have been taught and touched by Lisa Walford, Steve Walther, Julie Kleinman, Jeanne Heillman, Malachi Melville, Sonya Cottle, and the Beautiful Jesse Schein; who let me see how much I really did want to teach yoga... You’re not just a brilliant teacher, you’re a loving friend. I am also so thankful for my Ashtanga practice for teaching me that the more impatient you are, the more time will be needed for transformation. The more we’re in a hurry, the more we’ll be delayed. Thank you to Sonya Cottle, Charles James, and the entire Ashtanga community at Yoga Works Montana for the collective energy we share each practice, and the unspoken bond we all share with each other. I’m most thankful to my mother for her love, guidance, and support, and the shoulder I cry on when I have to let it all out. My deepest thanks go to my friends Annette Pizzo, Suzanne Taylor, Alisa Garrett, Kay Sides, Andrew St. John, Michele Agosti, Alexandria Crow, and Sarah Ezrin. My special thanks go to the incredibly talented stylings of Rachel Ross, and beautiful make-up artistry of Viktoriya Flores. There are no words to adequately express my love. Simply said, thank you for your friendship and loyal support, I’m so lucky to have all of you in my life XOXOXO. I’m grateful I get to thank Deborah Arlook for her unique eye, Jason Gold for his creativity, Robert Sturman for his brilliance and originality, Brie Childers for her seeing me as I really am, and bringing new things out of me, and last but certainly not least, Martin Ontiveros for his insight, lighting genius and overall kick ass photography skills. I am so thankful to the five of you for the beautiful photos you’ve given me. And last but certainly not least. I’m so thankful to my students. Thank you for teaching me just as much as I teach you (if not more). To my level one students, thank you for reminding me that every time we arrive onto the mat we’re always at the beginning; not only of that moment, not only of that breath, but that we’re always back at the beginning no matter where we began yesterday, or where we’ll end today we’re always back at the beginning. To my level 2/3 vinyasa flow students, thank you for exploring with me the edges of our practice, and going past the limits we thought we had. Your playful spirit is what makes our classes what they are. I love you all... Infinite Love & Prem --Elinore Cohen
